Marking lot no's and expiration dates on medicine cartons
Overview
Lot no's and expiration dates are printed on medicine cartons (solidly shaded area).
Conventional Method & Associated Problems
In the past, the client used a dot-printing type inkjet printer to print on the cartons while they were moving. Since the print quality was not consistent, it was difficult to check the printout using image recognition, and improvements were necessary to satisfy FDA requirements.
Controls regarding the use of organic solvents in factories were beginning to be enforced and the factory needed to find another printing method.
Advantages of Laser Markers
The ML-G ensures consistent printing quality by marking targets when they are stationary on moving while accurately controlling laser scanning. Marking white boldface characters on a dark-blue, solidly shaded area creates high contrast, resulting in stable image recognition. Thermal marking by laser does not require any organic solvents.
No blurred or distorted characters.

Marking lot Nos. inconspicuously on cosmetic containers
Overview
It is necessary to print lot no's inconspicuously on cosmetic containers so that they do not impair the design.
Conventional Method & Associated Problems
In the past, the client had printed lot no's with an inkjet printer, however, the characters printed in black ink did not match with the package design.
Advantages of laser markers
The ML-G allows fine adjustment of laser power, making it possible to print characters that will appear inconspicuous to consumers. Characters marked in this way do not impair the package design and do not disappear.
Permanent production codes can be marked without impairing package design.

Marking Production and Sell-by Dates on Frozen Food Cartons
Overview
Production and sell-by dates are printed on frozen food cartons which are often wet with frost and water drops.
Conventional Method & Associated Problems
In the past, the client used an inkjet printer. This required a lot of extra work as the cartons had to be taken out of the freezer, and then dried with warm air.
Advantages of Laser Markers
The ML-G performs thermal marking by using a laser, and is thus not affected by any water drops remaining on the surface of the carton. Extra tasks such as air drying are no longer necessary.
A laser marker can mark products even when there are some water drops or frost on the packaging.

Codes indicating the filling date and time are printed on PET bottles.
Conventional Method & Associated Problems
In the past, the client used an inkjet printer. However, recently more and more of its bottles are almost entirely shrink-wrapped and the films of returned defective products are sometimes torn, preventing tracking of the production history.
Advantages of Laser Markers
The ML-G uses thermal marking, making worries about disappearing markings and torn shrink film a thing of the past. Laser markers are environment-friendly because they use no ink or organic solvents.
Date and time can be marked automatically.
